Acupuncture is a traditional East Asian therapy involving the insertion of sterile needles into specific body points to promote circulation and regulate the body’s natural functionality.

From the perspective of Chinese medicine, acupuncture supports the body's natural healing process and the smooth flow of energy (Qi). Once in balance, the body can properly clear out debris and nourish areas that lack nutrition. In other words, acupuncture helps the body take out the trash and keep the good stuff.

Your first visit begins with a comprehensive intake about your current concerns, health history, and a holistic assessment of various body systems. This allows me to understand your needs and develop an individualized treatment approach. I’ll also take your pulse and look at your tongue to get a sense of your internal map. Then, you’ll lie on the massage table, and I’ll gently walk you through the needling process. I encourage you to be vocal about your needs and concerns. Needles will be retained for 30 minutes to achieve full therapeutic effects. Patients are typically so relaxed, they fall asleep!

Acupuncture is rarely a one-and-done. Consistency and commitment are vital for long-term symptom relief and overall balance. Originally, acupuncture was and continues to be a preventative medicine. In general, I recommend 4-6 sessions twice a week for acute conditions and 8-10 sessions weekly for chronic conditions. Treatment frequency varies from case to case, however. The goal with frequency is to ensure that you’re not always feeling like you’re on your back foot, physically or mentally. Following an initial course of treatment, monthly or seasonal maintenance sessions can help support ongoing well-being and allow emerging concerns to be addressed early.
